Samuel Roberts and Guenet Gittens-Roberts - Founders of CAP Multicultural Initiative
With a passion for supporting small businesses and a deep understanding of community engagement, Samuel Roberts and Guenet Gittens-Roberts have embarked on a new venture to empower artists and creatives from the Caribbean diaspora. Building upon their extensive experience in management support services and marketing, they have launched CAP Multicultural, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering cultural development and building a more inclusive society.
Their journey began in January 2004 when they founded Roberts and Roberts Management Services, LLC. Their primary goal was to provide management support to small businesses, guiding them through the process of planning, development, and growth. Realizing the need for affordable marketing and advertising services for "mom and pop" businesses, they expanded their services in 2008 and launched GGR Marketing & PR as a DBA under their family company.
In 2010, Samuel and Guenet took a significant step in supporting small businesses by launching the Caribbean American Passport News Magazine. This platform became a voice for creative businesses and showcased the unique stories and work ethic of the community. Through the collaboration of Roberts and Roberts and GGR Marketing, the publication gained recognition and grew exponentially over the years.
Over the course of their 18+ years in business, Samuel and Guenet have developed strong relationships within the community. They have worked closely with churches, community organizations, local universities, schools, and government entities. Their dedication and hard work have contributed to the success of their multimedia platform, which includes print, web, e-blasts, and social media.
The Caribbean American Passport News Magazine is the only Caribbean American publication with a statewide distribution platform, printing and distributing over 20,000 copies across Florida at more than 500 locations. Their website receives an average of 600,000 hits per month, with a significant portion coming from within Florida. Their extensive email database, carefully cultivated through community events and interactions, reaches 47,000 subscribers, with an industry-leading open rate.
Recognized as a full-service marketing and advertising company in Central Florida, Samuel and Guenet's expertise extends to media partnerships and media buys. They understand the market and know which publications provide the desired results for their clients. With a focus on events, they actively participate in major minority and Caribbean American events throughout Florida as media partners, sponsors, organizers, and attendees. Their involvement ensures engagement, exposure, and tangible results for their clients.
With CAP Multicultural, Samuel Roberts and Guenet Gittens-Roberts continue their mission of empowering artists and creatives from the Caribbean diaspora. Their extensive experience, strong community relationships, and proven track record make them the passport to reaching target demographics and achieving meaningful engagement. By leveraging their expertise and networks, CAP Multicultural aims to create vibrant communities, foster cultural development, and amplify the voices of Caribbean American artists.

Orlando Carnival Downtown is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment through our upcoming united band launch, which will feature all participating mas bands. Based on the mas bands that have previously participated in Orlando Carnival Downtown, this event will include costumes created by designers from America, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua, and potentially more. This event not only showcases the vibrant artistry and cultural heritage of the Caribbean but also provides a platform for artists and performers from historically underrepresented communities, including those based on race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status.
By uniting multiple mas bands for this launch, we create a space that celebrates diverse expressions and narratives, encouraging collaboration among artists from various backgrounds. The launch will serve as a nurturing venue for cultural expression, allowing participants to share their unique perspectives through costume design, music, and performance. We are also dedicated to ensuring accessibility in our programming. The band launch will include outreach to underserved populations, inviting community members to participate and engage with the festivities, regardless of their background or circumstances. This initiative aligns with our goal to provide equitable access to cultural experiences and resources.
In addition, we are focused on creating paid opportunities for artists, DJs, and performers involved in the launch, thereby supporting their livelihoods and promoting sustainable careers in the arts. Participants will also have the chance to build their resumes and portfolios through their involvement in this high-profile event, gaining exposure and experience that can lead to future opportunities. Through these efforts, Orlando Carnival Downtown aims to build a stronger community, address identified challenges related to representation in the arts, and promote an inclusive environment where all voices are celebrated and heard.
